Beloved post-emo band from Michigan USA, Hot Mulligan have teamed up with vocalist and guitarist Cory Castro of Free Throw, unveiling music video for newest song “Island In The Sun” available to stream now, via label Wax Bodega.
“Island In The Sun (feat. Cory Castro of Free Throw)” is the second track so far released off of the highly anticipated fourth album The Sound A Body Makes When It’s Still by Hot Mulligan - track 4 out of 16 on the Lp; the release date revealed to be early as August 22nd.

The well awaited post-emo single “Island In The Sun (feat. Cory Castro of Free Throw)” is a gorgeously melodic and upbeat track yet brutally raw in both lyrical depth and sound. Over upbeat instrumentals, Tades Sansville’s iconic gritty vocals tell a story of dissociation and self-destruction on a night out, conveying a sense of painful self-awareness whilst falling to temptations, out-drinking one’s mistakes and regret.
With iconic returning director Michael Herrick (no stranger to the post-emo/pop-punk scene), the pop-punk inspired music video for “Island In The Sun” is a nostalgic visual montage of some of the band’s performances, funny moments and other sweet candid and stylised shots from touring.
Hot Mulligan announced their fourth album The Sound A Body Makes When It’s Still earlier last month alongside single “And A Big Load”. Both the first single and new single “Island In The Sun” are upbeat, exciting and playful in sound, but lyrically deep, vulnerable and raw.
These two tracks a fresh spin on the Hot Mulligan we know and love, bringing some new sounds to the table while continuing to honour the iconic emo elements that have worked so well already.

Hot Mulligan assembles vocalist Tades Sansville, drummer Brandon Blakely, guitarists Chris Freeman and Ryan Malisci and bassist Kramer.
Forming in 2014 and signing to Wax Bodega in 2023, Hot Mulligan have been a staple in modern pop-punk/post-emo culture, creating their own hauntingly beautiful, heartfelt sound - which I could imagine playing behind a coming of age movie. Their music tugs hard on the heartstrings yet feels so comforting.
Now selling out thousand cap venues, playing alongside cherished bands Jimmy Eat World and The Wonder Years, racking up a whopping 140 million streams on Spotify over a decade later - Hot Mulligan cemented themselves as successors in the scene long ago and show no sign of slowing down.
