Portland’s own Dying Wish have dropped Revenge in Carnage, the second single from their forthcoming record Flesh Stays Together, set for release September 26 via SharpTone Records. Following from last month’s bruising lead single I’ll Know You’re Not Around, Revenge in Carnage dives headfirst into the chaos of apocalyptic extremes.
When discussing the track, vocalist Emma Boster shared:
“Revenge in Carnage is an anthemic moment of man-made apocalyptic violence. Imagine when you hear the isolated vocal starting the song that you have entered your final moment. Our final moments on this earth will not be peaceful. There’s no time for reflection, only survival.”
On the accompanying visual, Carrillo adds:
“The video represents the disillusion of self. The acceptance of violence and how we see ourselves in other people. We try to silence those thoughts with our own righteous beliefs only to be a different version of the same knife. We continue to fail to protect one another. We continue to point the finger. We continue to pretend that evil isn’t formed within our soul. If there is hope, it won’t be found in this lifetime.”

Produced by Will Putney (Knocked Loose, Nothing, Full of Hell), Flesh Stays Together builds on the momentum of the band’s acclaimed 2023 record Symptoms of Survival. Where that album was hailed for its uncompromising ferocity, and extreme sounds, this new chapter sees the five-piece push themselves and their limits for graphic explorations of human suffering and resistance.
Since forming in 2018, Dying Wish [Emma Boster (vocals), Sam Reynolds (guitar), Pedro Carrillo (guitar), Jon Mackey (bass), and Jeff Yambra (drums)] have shaped their place in the scene with intensity, both in the studio and onstage. Drawing on the integral energy of hardcore with a sharpness and urgency, Dying Wish creates songs that are as politically aware as they are sonically punishing. Their catalog has consistently balanced from their debut Fragments of a Bitter Memory (2021) through to Symptoms of Survival (2023) finding that sweet spot of blended raw aggression with urgent social commentary.
With Flesh Stays Together, Dying Wish step further into their role as torchbearers for the scene. Ferocious, unyielding, and unafraid.
