At the beginning of the month, Darling duo chokecherry released their fiercest single yet!

"Major Threat’" is an electric track, bodied and layered by riotous surf-punk, grungey garage rock and 90s riot-grrrl influences.

This song goes straight for the jugular; it's vivacious, delicately raw and does not hold back.

Towards the end of the track is the moment that really makes this song special, with visceral vocals and lyrics that outline venomous attachments and feeling discarded.

Vocalist/bassist Scarlett Levinson writes that this moment is “a nod to the toxic cycle of craving something (or someone) that's rejecting you; it hurts like hell and drives you crazy, but in the end, getting left is probably for the best."

Overall, "Major Threat" demonstrates a really impactful new direction for chokecherry and I am so here for it!

Just a few days ago chokecherry released a music video to accompany "Major Threat". It is a VHS-fuelled daydream (or nightmare) with romantic imagery of red wine, roses and candles contrasted by gritty shaky camera angles and acts of violence.

Check it out here!

Vocalist/guitarist Izzie Clark states that the clip “pokes fun at the hell that is the 21st century dating scene."

co-directed by Clark and Whitney Otte, this music video is one of the most visually striking and overall coolest music videos I have recently watched!

chokecherry have also announced that their debut album ‘Ripe Fruit Rots and Falls’ will be out on November 14th!

The album as a whole is stated as being a “dichotomy in its entirety; introspective and panoramic, tender and intense, personal and social, post-rock and shoegaze, but so is the duality of man.” I’m personally super excited to check it out as soon as it drops!

You can pre-save ‘Ripe Fruit Rots and Falls’ here!
