Emo favourites Cartel and American Music Award winners Hot Chelle Rae are officially returning to Australia next month as part of the brand new alternative event an Emo Extravaganza. Alongside their festival appearances, both bands have announced a limited run of headline shows across the country.

Presented by Destroy All Lines, Cartel will perform their own headline dates with support from This Wild Life, stopping at Stay Gold in Melbourne and The Gov in Adelaide before headlining Waves in Wollongong with special guests Hot Chelle Rae. Hot Chelle Rae will also bring their own headline shows to Magnet House in Perth and Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide, as well as joining Cartel at Waves in Wollongong.

Across the tour, fans can expect something truly special. Cartel will celebrate their defining album Chroma, while Hot Chelle Rae will perform their breakout record Whatever, delivering full album performances alongside a stack of fan favourites.

This marks Cartel’s first return to Australia in over a decade. Breaking out in the mid 2000s, the band carved their place between the rise of pop punk and the early days of internet virality. As they approach the 20th anniversary of Chroma, the record that launched Gold certified hit Honestly and sent them to Warped Tour, TRL, Epic Records and countless MySpace Top 8s, the band are revisiting their legacy with both gratitude and fresh excitement.

Hot Chelle Rae are best known for their triple platinum anthem Tonight Tonight and Top 40 favourite I Like It Like That, rising to global fame with their 2011 sophomore album Whatever. The band toured relentlessly alongside Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber, building a reputation as one of the most infectious pop rock acts of the era. After spending recent years honing their songwriting, the band have returned reenergised with new music and a renewed love for the songs that made them household names.

The headline shows will surround both bands appearances at An Emo Extravaganza this February. The inaugural event features a stacked international lineup led by Florida alt rock icons Anberlin celebrating the 20th anniversary of Never Take Friendship Personal, alongside Broadside making their Australian debut and This Wild Life performing Clouded in full.

Tickets for An Emo Extravaganza are on sale now. Tickets to the Cartel and Hot Chelle Rae headline shows go on sale Tuesday 20 January from 9 AM local time via Destroy All Lines, with early bird tickets available this Friday 16 January from 9 AM local time.
